A standing ovation!

Members of University Hospital Choir have been buzzing all week following our concert ‘UHC Sings Christmas’, which by all accounts was a resounding success. The programme ranged from traditional pieces such as A La Nanita Nana and the Polish Carol to the lively Wolfgang’s Christmas Canon, Christmas Shopping Blues and the hauntingly beautiful Seal Lullaby.

The audience were treated to a game of pass the parcel while the Choir stopped and started a live rendition of Sleigh Ride. Under many layers of paper and gold coins was a beautiful UHC bauble.

Our guests Penkhull Village Brass brought something really special to the concert through their accompaniment to the congregational carols as well as performing some wonderful Christmas pieces of their own. Guests Bel Canto sounded fantastic and provided a lovely contrast to the other performances with their a capella pieces.

The Twelve Day of Christmas will live long in memory for being one of the most entertaining pieces ever performed by UHC. There were actual maids a-milking, dancing queens, balletic ‘swans’, swooping turtle doves and five fabulous gold rings, all of which were a source of much fun for the Choir and mirth for the audience.
