We usually have two intakes a year for new members, either in January or at the beginning of September when we return from our summer break. This is when we start to learn new pieces for our regular concerts, so new members can gain a true feel for how the choir works and be starting fresh music alongside existing members.
If you think you might like to join the choir please contact us to find out whether we have any spaces in our next intake. If we are at full capacity, we will be able to place you on a waiting list and let you know if any places become available.
The best way to find out if it’s for you is to try us out on a rehearsal night. There’s no audition and you don’t need to read music to sing with UHC. If you don’t know whether you’re a soprano, a mezzo or an alto we encourage you to try them all until you find where you’re most comfortable. We work hard but rehearsals are fun – if they’re not there’s no point in the choir. You’ll find the members welcoming and supportive so there’s nothing to lose and everything to gain.
