Thinking of joining us?
We usually have two intakes a year for new members, during the first three weeks of term in January and September. This is when we start to learn new pieces for our regular concerts, so new members can gain a true feel for how the choir works and be starting fresh music alongside existing members.
If you think you might like to join the choir please contact us to find out whether we have any spaces in our next intake. If we are at full capacity, we will be able to place you on a waiting list and let you know if any places become available.
The best way to find out if it’s for you is to try us out at one of our Tuesday evening rehearsals. There’s no audition and you don’t need to read music to sing with UHC. If you don’t know whether you’re a soprano, a mezzo or an alto we encourage you to try them all until you find where you’re most comfortable. We work hard but rehearsals are fun – if they’re not there’s no point in the choir. You’ll find the members welcoming and supportive so there’s nothing to lose and everything to gain.
“For the last four years, the choir has become central to my life. It’s been so varied, often challenging and very exciting throughout. My confidence musically has grown but it’s the friendliness and being part of such a group of lovely people that’s been so good. I hope that my voice doesn’t fail me because life without UHC would be so much less enjoyable.”
